Welcome blog-readers, time-wasters, distracted folks, and others.
I am a 52-year old, single mother of three teenagers. If that doesn’t scare you this will. I have been reading loads of blogs for nearly a few years now and I think I can write one too.
The tip of my iceberg: I spent twenty years working in corporate America as a software developer, thirteen of those as an independent IT consultant. I took a break from the 8am-5pm routine (OK, I lied, it was more like 6 am-11 pm) in 2002, to try to figure out what was up with my over-the-top scatterbrained memory problem, my relentless insomnia, and my kids’ antics.
I found the answer alright. Yep, I learned the hard way. Taking a health nose-dive is one way to describe the experience. Crash and burn is probably more accurate.
Now, I am back, feeling healthier than ever.
This will be the subject of a book which I am currently working on titled, “What I Don’t Know”, hence the url name.
I have other projects in the works and will update you as they progress toward the finish line.
Back to my thumbnail life story. Since my tech skills have gone the way of the dinosaur, I decided, at the age of 45, to dip my toe into the professional modeling business which is about as far away from the geek world as one can get. No doubt, this has influenced my viewpoint and I do blog about some of my experiences.
I have since redirected my energies toward writing, photography, returning to software development, and helping others; having learned that modeling in middle-age is most certainly a hobby and not a career; that is, unless I want to put food on our table-for-four that is reminiscent of what I lived on during my destitute university days.
Speaking of college, I went to a few. I have undergraduate and graduate degrees in business, concentrating in Management Systems and Finance, respectively. With all that training and so many years sitting in a cubicle designing systems and writing code, to say I am analytical would not be an exaggeration.
My need for understanding drives me to find answers to the questions that pop into my head unremittingly, while it often drives the people around me nuts.
I hope you will find something interesting here. Thanks for stopping by.
